The Annie Oakley Lil’ Sure Shot stands out with its classic Western styling, enhanced by engraved Annie Oakley branding on the wood stock. It’s a step above many entry-level BB rifles thanks to its real wood stock and metal lever, giving it a more authentic and durable feel compared to fully plastic alternatives.

It’s ideal for beginners and younger shooters, backyard plinking and anyone wanting a simple, reliable and fun BB rifle. While it doesn’t aim for full realism like higher-end shell-ejecting models, it delivers where it matters: ease of use, affordability, durability, and fun factor.

Velocity Test: Testing began with warming up the chronograph, which required some troubleshooting. The chronograph’s lighting had an ongoing voltage issue, so a voltage regulator set to almost exactly 7 volts was used to get it working properly in the absence of a proper adapter.

Once the chronograph was running, several rounds were fired through the rifle to test velocity. Velocity remained fairly consistent in the mid-300s, with recorded shots of 341, 340, 333, 329, 334, and 332 fps, for an average of about 335 fps.

Target Accuracy: For the accuracy portion of the test, a paper target was set up 30 feet downrange. After roughly 10 shots, the rifle produced a grouping of just over two inches. Shots were well centered from left to right, though the rifle shot slightly high even when aiming just under the bullseye. A few stray BBs bounced back, which happens when they hit metal instead of the cloth backboard, and a few high flyers resulted. Most of the shots grouped tightly, so some of the high flyers may have been due to user error.

Trigger Pull & Feel: The trigger pull measures around 5 to 6 pounds. The action is fairly short with a predictable break. It requires a little effort but is not a hair trigger, which makes it a good fit for younger shooters who are just starting out.
